| Kriegsführer
|
The Kriegsführer is the highest rank in the Wehrmacht. It is only held by one person, similar to ranks such as Reichswächter, Reichsmarschall, Reichsführer and Führer. The first and only person to hold this rank is Rudolf Riefenstein. A Kriegsführer has the privilege of commencing any military decisions without the Führers permission. However, the Führer can still depose the Kriegsführer.

General der Waffengattung, often just referred to as General, is a high rank which many high ranking Wehrmacht officials possess. Several generals wield multiple of the following ranks and are therefore just referred to as General or General der Waffengattung:
