The third Aztec Empire was a Aztec Empire ruled by [[Montezuma II]. It existed in the Second Phase. It was created after the Aztecs moved from the Second Aztec Empire to new areas.

History

Creation

Their capital, Tikal

The Aztecs in the Second Aztec Empire wanted to expand but the current area they were in was not suitable, as the desert was flooded and the other areas were swamps and small plains biomes. Furthermore the Aztecs wanted a nice jungle to stay in. They would go to the south and find a large jungle biome. They settled in a already existing village and changed it around. Then they created their first temple and started creating more houses. The Aztecs created their capital, Tikal. They would expand and have a goal of completely converting all of the jungle biome into their city. However, the Aztecs never succeeded with this.

Wars

The third Aztec Empire had a few wars. The first ones were attacks on their neighbouring Greeks, Romans, Egyptains, Japanese and Mongolians. These attacks weren't always succesful but they did inflict a lot of damage on the victims. The Mongolians were the first to fall under Aztec rule. The Aztecs attacked the Mongolians because the Mongolians copied the standard Aztec house design.

Then the Aztecs would attack the Japanese. The Japanese signed an alliance with the Roman Empire and Greek Empire, forming "The Triple Alliance" However, the Aztecs would quickly capitulate the Japanese. Then the Romans were next. The Roman emperor Julius Caesar was said to be murdered in the Greek city, and the Aztecs claimed responsibility. However, a few years later, Julius Caesar was seen ruling a fairly moderate Roman Empire. However, the Aztecs would capitulate the old Roman city aswell. This left only the Greeks, who would surrender not much later aswell.

The Greeks and Romans went to a Norse village and captured it. They treated the inhabitants poorly and made the inhabitans slaves. The Norse Empire was shocked and offended. They sent Vikings and Norse warriors to liberate this city. The Viking and Norse attacks failed at first. The Aztecs would ally with the Vikings and the Norse Empire and would attack this captured city. The Greeks and Romans would eventually be beaten again, to which the Vikings and Norse hoped to reclaim their city. However, the Aztecs claimed the city for themselves. This angered the Vikings and the Norse but they were attacked by Aztec armies and forced to retreat.

The Aztecs would now continue their conquests, into the desert. The Egyptains would be the next victim. The large city of Anubis was attacked by Aztecs. However, the attacks failed and the Aztecs retreated. The Aztecs would then halt their attacks. Only attacking a few smaller areas like the Templars and the Zapotecs, but not actually conquering any new land.

Culture

Buildings

The Aztecs used specific building designs. They would also build more temples and a larger city in general. The Aztecs would make their city Tikal one of the largest cities in the whole Second Phase. They were also seen building houses in straight streets instead of building all over the place.

Religion

For the first time in history, a nation claimed a religion. The Aztecs did not give a name to this religion but it worshipped the gods Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc. This was fairly limited though, and the Aztecs would not support this religion widely until the Fifth Aztec Empire in the Third Phase.

The demise

The Aztecs would move from their third empire, to a new area, with a mesa- and a jungle biome. They would settle their Fourth Aztec Empire here. They created a plan to make Tikal poorly defended and eventually conquered by their enemies. This would result in the defeat of the only city the Third Aztec Empire owned, Tikal. From that moment only a few nations knew the Aztecs were still alive, in their new fourth empire.
