History
The Beltran brothers worked alongside numerous other cartels though primarily working with the Sinaloa Cartel. The Beltran brothers were a violent group, kidnapping, torturing and murdering various rivals of the Sinaloa Cartel. They mainly worked closely with Joaquin Guzman, also known as El Chapo.
The Sinaloa-Beltran split
El Chapo's son, Ivan Guzman, was imprisoned after being found guilty of money laundering and was sentenced to five years imprisonment. However, he was released later that year. In the meantime, Allegations that El Chapo traded Alfredo Beltran for his son's release appeared. Following Alfredo Beltran's arrest, the Beltran brothers left the Sinaloa Cartel and moved to Guerrero, where they formed the Guerrero Cartel.
