Gran Jaguar

The Gran Jaguar is a large Mayan temple also known as Templo I. It is located in Tikal, in the Third Phase.

It is believed that the Gran Jaguar is has abilities similar to the Mayan phase temple, which ended the Second Phase. However, there is little evidence to support this claim.

The Gran Jaguar is the tallest Mesoamerican temple in the world with 136 blocks. It is also situated in the second largest Sacred Precinct in the world, being slightly larger than the sacred precinct of Tenochtitlan, but much smaller than the sacred precinct of Teotitlán. Furthermore, it is situated in Tikal, a city that competes with Tenochtitlan and Teotitlán for the largest size.
