History
Early Days
Adolf Hitler was born on the 20th of April 1889 in Austria. Hitler had a rough childhood, being humiliated by his father. He had a close relationship with his mother. However, both of his parents would pass away when Adolf Hitler was still relatively young. Hitler tried getting into art school. He was rejected and had no job. He eventually moved to Munich, though still struggling with getting enough money.
In 1914, World War I, also known as the Great War, had started. Adolf Hitler applied to become a soldier in the German army. He fought on the Western Front, primarily in Belgium and France. Hitler served as a messenger, delivering communications between headquarters and the front lines. He participated in several major battles, including the Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Ypres. He was wounded twice during the war, once in 1916 and again in 1918, receiving the Iron Cross for bravery.
In 1918, World War 1 had come to an end, much to the disliking of Hitler, because Germany had surrendered. After the war, Hitler immediately applied for the post war German military. He worked for an intelligence unit. He was tasked with investigating several Socialist and Communist organizations. At one point, Hitler would investigate the rather Anti-Semitic DAP (Abbreviation for "German Workers' Party"). Hitler became increasingly involved with this party and would eventually join it.
After joining the DAP, Hitler would become more involved with the Anti-Semitic ideas and eventually even became the leader of the DAP. Hitler would then reform the DAP to the NSDAP (Abbreviation for National Socialist German Workers' Party). The NSDAP would become more violent towards other political parties. Hitler would utilise the paramilitary group, the SA (Abbreviation for Sturmabteilung) to commit acts of violence against political rivals. Hitler would participate in elections, even though not being popular. The NSDAP would not win the elections. However, their popularity was rising.
In November 1923, the Beer Hall Putsch (or Munich Putsch) was attempted. It was a failed coup organized by the NSDAP. Adolf Hitler would be charged with high treason and was arrested and sentenced to 5 years in prison, however, Hitler was released after 1 year. He would be arrested with a few other Nazis. This included Rudolf Hess, Hermann Göring, Ernst Röhm, Wilhelm Frick and Julius Streicher.
Wilhelm Frick was in prison the shortest, for about 2 months. Adolf Hitler, Rudolf Hess, Ernst Röhm and Julius Steicher were imprisoned for approximately 1 year and 1-2 months. Hermann Göring was imprisoned the longest, for approximately 3 years and 11 months. In prison, Hitler wrote his book, Mein Kampf. In this book he describes how he became antisemitic and what he thinks germany should resemble in the future.
Eventually, after only about 1 year, Hitler was released from prison. He immediately returned to the NSDAP and decided to parttake in the elections again. This time, Hitler had much more support a much higher amount of people.
Next, Hitler would form the SS (Abbreviation for Schutzstaffel).
